We're built for this!

Our bodies are limitless vessels designed to carry us through every stage of
this human experience and even create new life. I’m in awe of what we
can accomplish when given the opportunity and, correct mindset.
I’ve been in somewhat of a protective and private cocoon this year. Keeping one of the most monumental transitions as quiet as possible to protect myself, my birthing vision, and my baby from any unnecessary
doubts, judgments, or ill thoughts coming in from the outside world.
The time has come for me to let loose and share! I feel so inspired to
help other moms out there because there is such a LOUD racket around
conception, birth, and motherhood. I defied what so many think is
impossible or dangerous, and I hope to inspire other women to do the
same!
We welcomed our new baby boy into this realm on September 21st at home
with the help of an amazing midwife duo and a close friend. It was exactly
what I had hoped for and so much more.
Here are my initial thoughts and humble opinions (surely more to come):
Birth is primal, and with the correct mindset and health record, it can be
a peaceful, intense, and empowering experience.
Birth feels nurturing and almost tribal when at home with a team of
loving and encouraging females. Although men are amazing, my
experience with only women felt beautiful and just what I needed.
You can say “No” and please, please do when necessary. This
translates to visitors, opinions, stories, etc.
Birth does NOT always have to have medical interventions (and most
of the time is the reason for many of the unnecessary complications).
Even choosing the Home Birth/Midwife route, I rejected countless
medical state-driven tests and procedures that I was not expecting.
Stop thinking you have a deadline. There is so much fear around
“older” women giving birth and it’s just NOT true! A healthy body can
conceive, carry, and birth a beautiful tiny human without complications. YOU have TIME!
Birth is a spiritual experience created by God. Stay in a spiritual
mindset and remember, billions of women have paved the way before
you. You are built for this!
We can endure pain and move through it when prepared. There
were moments when I didn’t think I could push past the physical
sensations, and yet I had no other choice. I don’t blame women for
getting an epidural or help to manage (that pain is NO JOKE!) BUT at
home, there was nothing, so I had to figure it out.
We can create and do anything! BUT please don’t think this comes
effortlessly. We must know how to pray, protect, stay steadfast in
truth, and know how to deny interference and doubts. This took me
9 months of praying, reading, working, and keeping many things to
myself, when naturally I wanted to share and celebrate with others,
but I knew I couldn’t yet.
Divine Timing is always in control. My baby came 2+ weeks early,
and although I was left scrambling with my yoga studio and last
minute preparation, or lack thereof, it was exactly how it was meant to
unfold, and my baby was the developed size my body could handle. He was born 8lbs 4oz, just as healthy as can be!
Trust God, Jesus, and yourself! You DO know what’s best! We live in a
world of resources, so do your research and don’t react. Tune into YOUR
intuition and choose what’s best for you and your baby. You got this Mama!
As I write this to whomever is reading, I am reminding myself that I, too, am
built for this and can navigate this beautiful new chapter with grace,
humility, humor, and grit.
