One of my happiest places is on a bike, any bike really. I LOVE being a passenger on my Dad's or Finance's motorcycles BUT I especially love a good old-fashioned peddle bike. Sorry you can't enroll me in the E-bikes, I think they are cheating...although sometimes helpful during long-distance circumstances.
Anyway, I've always owned a bicycle since I was at the ripe young age of 4. I grew up riding my bike to school and corralling the neighborhood bike gang around Woodside Drive. As I'm writing this, I just realized THAT'S why I feel such freedom on a bicycle! WOW! What an epiphany! There's nothing more freeing to a kid than giving them their own set of wheels!
I loved how when I moved to Florida, I could now bike around year-round! I used to cruise Boca to Delray on Sunday mornings and then when I moved to Fort Lauderdale, it felt a little too busy so I didn't ride it much and then my beautiful, one-of-a-kind royal blue beach cruiser got stolen from my apartment's parking garage. I felt so violated and angry. Eventually, I got over that feeling but said I wouldn't buy another bike again until I had a private garage or adequate storage so that could never happen again.
I moved into a house with a garage for my Jeep last year and thought.... "maybe I'll buy a bike again!"
Well, I didn't even have to buy one because my friend, Arkell, had to relocate to a different state and offered up her beautiful beach cruiser that got left behind in the move. It's perfect with a charming basket and teal cup holder. Then a student offered her bike pump since it had been sitting for a while, she needed some crisp air to get rolling again. All beautiful offerings I didn't have to ask for...OR did I?
My point is, that God restored what was lost years ago. And I didn't have to actively pursue the restoration, it just came my way so generously and effortlessly. These examples are what keep me feeling close to God and give me complete faith that #1 in my support system and the good people I surround myself around and #2 in the faith that God knows what we want and need before we can even ask for it.
In Matthew 6:8, the Bible says "Your Father knows what you need before you ask him."
I now cruise my little neighborhood regularly in the evenings and feel so loved by my community and friends AND most importantly by God and Jesus. It's a great reminder to maintain my faith and trust that God is working behind the scenes every day.
